The apartment vacancy rate in the Calgary region averaged 1.3 per cent in October, down from 1.9 per cent last year. Overall, the two-bedroom rent in Calgary averaged $1,152 in October, up from $1,087 last year. Downtown and Beltline had among the highest average two-bedroom rents in the Calgary CMA at $1,240 and $1,222, respectively. The southeast and other centres recorded the lowest two-bedroom rents in October, averaging $998 and $1,005, respectively. The second of three people charged with second-degree murder in the vicious beating death of a 49-year-old man in the inner-city Beltline community last spring has been granted bail. Court of Queen’s Bench Justice William Tilleman on Wednesday ordered the release of Jarod Donald Henry, 22, on $40,000 in non-cash assets. Henry’s father is to post $30,000 and his mother and brother must put up $5,000 each.
