After a glass pane plummeted crashed to the Beltline pavement from 11 storeys up, the apartment highrise’s manager has been instructed to inspect all the building’s windows. The 50-metre fall sprayed shards across 10th Avenue near 1st Street S.W. and startled patrons at a nearby bar Monday evening, but injured nobody.

“Parking has definitely gotten more congested, probably because there are more bars,” said Gina Arsenault, who has lived with her husband on 18th Avenue Southwest for nearly six years.
“We don’t entertain here because our guests have nowhere to park.”
Realizing there was little room to spare, city council approved parking relaxation for businesses in the Beltline area in 2009.
